The current Moon Safari selection is a coffee from Southern Minas Gerais. It’s one of Brazil’s most productive coffee producing areas. This region has grown Arabica coffee since the 1850s and is characterized by rolling hills, a mild climate averaging 23° C, and high elevations. More than half of the region’s producers are small to medium-sized farms.

So is Fazenda Baixadão do Imbirizal. This farm is located in the Capelinha do Imbirizal community of the city of Lambari in the Mantiqueira de Minas coffee region. Coffee cultivation here is passed from generation to generation. Angela Xavier dos Reis learned from the work and dedication of her parents. She married Jorge Carlos dos Reis and together they bought the land where they work tirelessly.

Limited equipment and infrastructure made things difficult at the beginning, but through their work they acquired a new tractor and built a cement drying patio where they invest in drying quality coffees grown on 10 of the farm’s 11 hectares. Their passion for coffee agriculture grows every day and gives them the motivation to always seek improvements and to use more sustainable methods. They pass this dedication onto their children who will – most likely – one day cultivate the same farm.
